Wholesale Prices for Shell Eggs Hold Steady

Why Are Eggs Good For You 1296x728 Feature

This week’s Legacy Market News Report features important information for baking industries. Here is a summary:

EGGS: Wholesale prices for cartoned shell eggs held steady through the week even as the undertone weakened. Supply levels have increased as have offerings and trading has slowed as needs are covered. Consumer demand for shell eggs continued to recede as the market moved into early February and the groundhog dispelled hopes for an early Spring.

FLOUR: South American harvest is moving forward unabated.

BUTTER: There is still plenty of cream and butter available in the US, but there is a sense that cream might be getting a little tighter. Butter remains firm in the EU. The large price spread between EU/Oceania and US continues to drive speculation about increased US exports. NZX futures are predicting a pullback for GDT butter, but an increase for AMF. Chinese demand for fat has been strong but it looks like logistics problems left a lot of fat trapped in NZ back in December.
