Wholesale Prices for Shell Eggs Decline as Easter Needs are Met

This week’s Legacy Market News report has important information regarding the baking industries. See below for some insights to consider:

EGGS: Wholesale prices for cartoned shell eggs are one the decline as Easter business needs are filled and the market looks past the holiday season. Consumer demand for conventional shell eggs continued to decline over the past week just prior to the retail promotional push for the Easter demand period which is now underway across the country.

FLOUR: Cash wheat prices in the EU and Black Sea region have fallen. There have been ample rains in the southern Plains with the forecast turning back to warm and dry, which should bold well for Hard Red Wheat.

BUTTER: CME spot butter firmed this week. Butter stocks at the end of February were 15 million pounds lower than forecast but still up 16.8% from last year. Cream was reportedly a little tighter in the Central/ Eastern US as ice cream and Easter product production ramps up, but plenty of cream in parts of the West. EU butter prices were lower with cream available.
