This week’s Market News Update has key information for all foodservice providers. Here are some highlights to note:
EGGS: Wholesale prices for cartoned shell eggs advanced through the week as marketers sought to rebuild supplies depleted from better than expected movement over the recent holiday period while facing reduced offerings. Consumer demand for shell eggs saw its largest increase since late April, despite lackluster retail features as consumers took it upon themselves to stock up on eggs over the long Independence Day holiday.
WHEAT: Ending stocks for all wheat were cut by 105 million bushels from the previous month to 665M bu. Crop condition for spring wheat was left unchanged at 16% excellent but farmers are concerned that more hot and dry weather could make it even worse. Winter wheat harvest is now 59% harvested and should start wrapping up in the next few weeks.
BUTTER: No new update available.
